The Inspiring Journey of Kathy Bates: Overcoming Cancer and Battling Lymphedema
Actress Kathy Bates began speaking candidly about her lymphedema diagnosis following breast cancer surgery. She is the spokesperson for the Lymphatic Education & Research Network.
She disclosed candidly that she had recently shed eighty pounds. The actress needs compression sleeves to keep her arms from swelling. She wears them when flying or doing strenuous work because not wearing them exacerbates her illness.
The actress claimed that in order to manage her illness, she had to continually remind herself to take it easy., “I feel more confident in my ability to live with LE if I can stop rushing, relax my shoulders, straighten my spine, breathe deeply, and concentrate on each little moment of finishing a task.” I was compelled to slow down by the pandemic.

She advises those with the illness to carry on with their lives in spite of it. “Going out in public wearing a compression garment can sometimes be more painful than the disease itself, especially when people aren’t educated about LE,” the actress stated. But staying inside and leading a sedentary lifestyle will only exacerbate the health problems in your body and brain.
She underlined the importance of not allowing your sickness define you, as she also does for herself.

She is making sure that she pushes for increased money for lymphedema research and for organizations that are in charge of raising awareness of the illness.
Kathy Bates does roles she enjoys and completes projects she wants to, even after receiving a diagnosis!
The actress has mastered the art of not just surviving but also thriving in spite of her illness.
